Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Readnauts ("we", "us") for the use of Readnauts, our family reading tracker (the "Service"). They are written for the grown-up who creates the account. By creating an account or using Readnauts, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Readnauts is

Readnauts helps a family log the books its readers finish, build a reading habit, and keep a lasting reading memory. Your library belongs to your readers, not to any challenge, and stays yours. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the Service improves.

2. Your account & who may use it

• You must be at least 18 and the parent or guardian of the readers in your household.
• You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for everything done under it, including your family's use of the app on your devices.
• One account is for one household. It is not for reselling, or for running an organization, school, or library program (those will have their own plans).

3. Children's use

Readnauts is operated by the grown-up account holder. Children do not create accounts or sign in; the grown-up sets up readers and logs books. How we handle children's information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is built around data minimization and the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). By adding a child reader, you confirm you are their parent or guardian and consent to the limited data use described there.

4. Plans, trial & billing

• Early access: while Readnauts is in early access it is free to use.
• When paid plans begin: the Readnauts Family plan is $39 per year or $4.99 per month for your whole household (up to 8 readers). Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card required.
• Founding families: the first 100 families to subscribe receive 50% off for as long as their subscription stays active. The discount applies automatically.
• Auto-renewal: paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (yearly or monthly) at the then-current rate for your plan, until you cancel. You authorize us, through our payment processor, to charge your payment method on each renewal.
• Price changes: if we ever change the price of your plan, we will give you notice in advance, and the new price will only apply from your next renewal.
• Payments: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

5. Cancelling, read-only & refunds

• You can cancel anytime from your billing settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
• If your trial ends without subscribing, or you cancel, your account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, view your whole library, and export it, but adding or editing requires an active plan. We keep your data so it is waiting for you if you return.
• Refunds: because every plan begins with a free trial, we generally do not offer refunds for time already elapsed. If something went wrong, email support@readnauts.com and we will make it right.

6. Your content & data

The readers, books, notes, and other information you add are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process, sync, and display that content so the Service can work for you. You can export everything or permanently delete any book, any reader, or your entire account at any time from Settings → Privacy & Data. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

7. Acceptable use

Please use Readnauts as intended. You agree not to:

• break the law, or use the Service to harm others;
• access another family's data, or try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission;
• upload content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights.

We may suspend or close accounts that misuse the Service.

8. Our intellectual property

The Readnauts app, website, name, logo, design, and content (other than your own data) belong to us and our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to our branding or software beyond using the Service as intended.

9. Service availability

We work to keep Readnauts available and reliable, but the Service is provided "as is" and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service, and will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot legally be limited.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Readnauts and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive (such as content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) continue after your use ends.

12. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts located there, unless your local law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
